Mr. Richard’s Reviews: Rod Stewart – Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?

Rod Stewart – Da Ya Think I’m Sexy? (written and arranged by Rod Stewart and Carmine Appice and produced by Tom Dowd)

Although Mr. Stewart is known for a range of styles, probably most notably for love ballads, this track is almost out of left field. It is hard to remember that he even sang this song when people like Jay-Z are reviving his stardom by sampling songs like “Forever Young”.

For me, I love the intensity that Rod brings when he sings the chorus over an almost dangerous sounding beat. It really reminds me of clubbing and raving all night. It also shines a little more light on why groups like Crystal Castles sound derivative of late 70’s (1978) no-wave and other sub-genres. Don’t expect as much fun at an EDM concert as you will when you play this tune at your next party.
