Understandably I’m listening to the club mix and not the radio edit, but this is an interesting look at posthumous remixes. One never knows what the original artist would have thought of reviving an old hit. There are so many remixes, samplings, and tributes to the Notorious B.I.G, but this one is from 1998 and Puff Daddy was still torn up over the loss of his friend and biggest money maker. Nowadays we have holograms and unreleased recordings being performed by almost every major artist in the pop industry. This version retains the original flow that Notorious B.I.G. will always be remembered for. His deep voice is complimented by slowing the tempo up a little bit and the addition of traditional raked symbols to the arrangement is both predictable and yet unexpected. The unedited side of this maxi-single will make you think about B.I.G. in a new light for sure. Frank didn’t like too many rappers but certainly appreciated the chart toppers.
